I've been keeping track of interesting books for a while in my Delicious Feed.
One of the annoying thing about this is that amazon supports many, many different URL formats that point to the same thing. In an effort to avoid duplicates (this happens more frequently than one would think), I've taken to only posting books in their cannonical URL form: amazon.com/dp/ISBN10/aff_id
I finally got tired of manually editing the URL and created a bookmarklet.
Just using it a few times makes me wonder why I didn't try this earlier.
Now I just need to figure out how to get the tag automatically filled out, and the whole thing automatically submitted. But that's for another day.
Steve Yegge is right - automate everything.

Plastic Logic Reader
Video here
This thing looks amazing - almost precisely what I want in an ebook reader. I've heard that people are trying to adapt textbooks to the Kindle, although given its small screen size, I was quite skeptical. The Plastic Logic Reader looks like it's all set and ready to dominate the textbook market without much if any formating required on the part of publishers.
My only concern is that there was no mention of the reader supporting any sort of memory card device. Being able to add 8 or 16 GB of flash to this device would be amazing, letting me store every book I would ever want to read from Project Gutenburg, for example.
One of the most impressive features of this device is its light weight and minuscule thickness, making it easy to carry along with a laptop (although totally impossible to fit in a pocket, no matter how over-sized).
As of yet, there are no technical specs available. The product is projected to be available in the first half of 2009.

Crocker's Rules
From now on, I will be operating by Crocker's Rules.
Really, I just found out that there was a name for what I have always wanted - people to tell me what they really think without respect for my feelings. Or more precisely, this is what I believe is in my long-term best interest, although it does feel quite caustic at times.
